Sushi train at hanaichi.

We discovered this gem as we were scouring the brisbane city for a mitre 10 to find the tools we needed to set up for the reed gift fair.  An hour our two later we ended up with very little nails and plenty of fresh fruits.
It s completely unrelated but if you ever visit queen st there s a market there that sell the absolute best strawberries ever. So so sweet!

Back to my point though, what we also found was hanaichi in queen st mall. Lets just say we left as very VE R Y satisfied customers, as you can probably already tell from the pictures.
So next time you charter out to unknown territory, its always good to walk in those nooks and crannies.  You might not find what took you there initially, but you might just find what you never realized you wanted, and for us that was a sushi train!

And fyi we ended up finding that mitre 10 too.

Wow Tutankhamun

We just went to the night session of King Tutankhamen at the Melbourne Museum,

And must say we were very impressed, the amazing skill and craftsmanship this ancient civilisation had is amazing!

A must see is a beautiful little box that is made from Ivory and is one of the first to use hinges, such amazing detail!
Also the main coffin has such amazing detail and finesse
And of course King Tut's Dagger at the end, wish they sold replicas at the shop!!

Some useful words we learnt, Ankh means life and Re-is Sun!

that's pretty much all we remember!

http://kingtutmelbourne.com.au/

Check it out while its on, day sessions are really booked so night sessions are best as there are a lot less people, but you don't get entry into the museum as it is closed!

Be sure to jump on our facebook page for our first competition ever!!!

Our 6 day work/holiday trip to Launceston

3 weeks ago Will and I went to Launceston to exhibit at Agfest. I must say it was one of the best work/ holiday moments ever!! To start, our dear friend Kevin prepared a feast for us to welcome our arrival! Here's the menu as the days followed for the 1 week that we were there.

Day 1:
Arrival via the spirit of Tasmania, it was freezing!! 1 degree to be exact.
Picture this; a frozen landscape as the morning sun rose. We arrived at Kevin's Victorian house atop a hill to find the heaters left on and the delicious aroma of chicken and vegetable soup.

Dinner comprised of:
Devils Elbow Red Wine
Spaghetti Bolognais with a side soup dish of chicken soup and vegetables.
Although we were abt to pop, we managed to have a midnight snack of chips and Tawny Port Red wine.

Day 2:

Will and I wondered around Launceston to find a quite city that seemed quite rustic and untouched. After checking up on our Agfest stand and making sure everything was ready to go for tomorrow's opening we went back to the beautiful Victorian home to warm our hands.

Dinner comprised of:
Entree: garlic scallops with a sweet moscato white wine
Main: pan fried tasmania salmon with dijon mustard with a side dish of potato and cauliflower mash.
Followed by more spaghetti bolignais (from the night before)

After about only 20 minutes rest we decided it was time for a less than midnight snack;
cracked pepper crackers with red pepper and cashew nut dip and pate.

Day:3

Agfest began at 8am and with a very successful day we were eager to go home and well... eat. At first we wanted to pop out for a nice night out but it ended up being to cold and we were frankly a little too lazy. We ordered Thai food instead.

Dinner:
Tom Yum soup
green curry chicken
massaman curry beef
pla goon
stir fried vegetables
coconut rice
followed by a mountain of chocolate mudcake and connoisseur cookies and cream ice-cream, and off course more wine.

Day:4

Second day of Agfest. EXTREMELY COLD!! 1 degrees and everything is frozen over. Needed to wipe the frost off the windscreen of the car. But really looking forward to feasting again. We finally pulled on our coats and went to a beautiful restaurant along the pier.

Dinner:
entree: fresh oysters and another type with a salsa dressing
fried crab meat rolls
Main: seafood fettucini
lamb gnocci
pan fried salmon
Wine: sparkling red wine (sorry can't remember the name)

Day: 5

Last day of Agfest and anticipated to be the busiest day of all. Pulling in over 70000 people, the times is definitely going to fly by.
Not really looking forward to packing up shop and moving everything out in the 4 wheel drive.
Also remembered we need to swing by the bottle shop to pick up a couple more wines as we're out!!

Dinner menu is as follows, compliments of the great chef and friend Kevin.

main: Tasmanian steak with roasted capsicum (skin off) and vegetables.
salad side and garlic bread.
dessert: 4 choice of french mini cakes, passionfruit, raspberry chocolate mudcake and mocha.
Somewhere during the night there was more ice-cream, chips, wine and picnic bars

Day: 6

Our final day in Launny!! It's so sad because we've grown to absolutely adore this little city!! Our great friend is taking us to the Gorge and we're going wander the streets for the last time. We went to a beautiful little cafe for lunch:

lamb salad
chips
big breakfast
rasberry smoothy

Well there you go guys!!! Our 6 day trip in Launceston was initially suppose to be about work, but the one thing we've learnt is that you can always mix a little bit of pleasure with work! Especially when you have such a fantastic host and an amazing little city like Launceston and about 6 bottles of wine! :)
